Surely, the power of determination has great importance in success. Willpower is said to have the power to help the mind with positive thoughts. There is no alternative to willpower. Planning to achieve whatever you want and working towards the same is possible only through willpower. Once, Gautama Buddha was wandering from Shravasti to Jetavana Vihar with his disciples in the spring. While walking, his disciple Sariputra pointed to a huge stone and asked, ‘Guruvar! Who can muster the courage to weaken this powerful stone? “The iron hammer can tear this stone into pieces,” Buddha replied.
Then Sariputra said, “Then who can be stronger than iron?” Buddha said, “Agni melts iron.” Sariputra said, “So Guruvar, who can show his strength in front of Agni?” Buddha said, ‘Water calms the fire.’ Then Sariputra asked, “So is there nothing that can stop the impulse of immense water? Buddha said, ‘Yes Sariputra, the flow of strong air changes the direction of the water stream.’ Sariputra said,
‘Then the air is almighty!’
Buddha said, ‘No Sariputra, the resolving power of man is almighty in the universe.’ Willpower is the strength based on which all kinds of success can be achieved.
The whole world remembers Chinna Pillai, a resident of Pullucherry village and Padma Shri, who lives in the dense forests of Tamil Nadu, as the champion who used her willpower to empower the helpless laborers. After marriage, Chinna had to work the agricultural fields for wages. Chinna saw that the lives of agricultural laborers are being suppressed under the borrowings and debts of landlords and moneylenders.
The moneylender charged 300 times the money from the helpless laborers. But no one could muster the courage to speak against the moneylender.Chinna did not approve of all this. She continued to ask the farm owner to increase everyone’s wages, but this did not happen. Exploitation increased.
Chinna then pledged that she would do some new work to give smiles to the helpless laborers. Chinna started a campaign in 1990 for the safe future of laborers through small savings. She initially created a savings fund at the rate of Rs 20 per month per woman by forming a group of 15 women. The money deposited was given as a loan to a needy woman in the group. The rate of interest was five times lower than that of moneylenders. Gradually, this campaign to make women self-reliant has moved forward and today it has become a huge tree of 12 lakh families in 13 states. In 2001, the then Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee touched Chinna’s feet while giving Chinna ‘Stree Shakti Puraskar’ and said that she has brought a smile of a dignified life to millions of poverty-stricken women through her willpower. After being honored with the Padma Shri, Chinna said that only based on her willpower she could write new chapters of public service.
The question is how to gain willpower? Let’s understand the mantra of how to get the will power. When you go to sleep every day, sit calmly and keep repeating the resolution in and exhale easily. Sleep while repeating your resolution. Wake up in the morning and repeat the resolution. Keep remembering the resolution even during the day and start working devotedly. After a few days, you will start seeing the expected results of willpower. Your goal will be fulfilled with willpower!
